🔬 Postdoc opening: the bone marrow neuro-niche in paediatric ALL
Does the nervous system talk to leukemic cells in the bone marrow? And could this crosstalk explain bone pain in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia?
A postdoctoral position is open within a collaborative project funded by @EU CAN KIDS, shared between three teams:
🇫🇷 Dr Françoise Pflumio, Institute of Cellular and Molecular Radiobiology, Fontenay-aux-Roses (main location, Inserm contract)
🇳🇱 Prof. Josef Vormoor, Princess Máxima Center, Utrecht
🇩🇪 Dr Simon Renders, DKFZ, Heidelberg
🔬 The project
Study the interactions between the nervous system and leukemic cells in ALL patients presenting with bone pain, to understand leukemic development and progression and to improve pain management in children. You will work with human normal and leukemic cells and mouse preclinical models, including humanized BM ossicles. You will also travel between the labs to learn and apply Trace-n-Seq and scRNAseq.
We are looking for
✅ PhD in Onco/Haematology, with strong knowledge of normal and pathological human hematopoiesis
✅ Skills in cell culture, multiparameter flow cytometry (analysis and sorting), and molecular biology
✅ Experience in mouse transplantation and some bioinformatics knowledge
✅ Autonomy and the ability to work across labs and countries
✅ Fluent English
📅 Start: end of 2026 or early 2027
📍 Fontenay-aux-Roses (near Paris, easily reached by public transport), with travel and housing covered during lab exchanges
